Emily Stone Named Excellence in Craft Contest Winner

 

Outdoor Writer Receives Prestigious Awards 

 

 

Madison, Wisconsin (August 25, 2026) — Emily Stone was named an Excellence In Craft (EIC) Contest winner Monday night at the Outdoor Writers Association of America’s annual conference in Madison, Wisconsin.


Stone won first place in the Blog/Family Participation-Youth Outdoor Education category for "Second Grade Tracking Stories" (Natural Connections), first place in the Newspaper/Family Participation-Youth category for “Second Grade Tracking Stories” (Ashland Daily Press), second place in the Newspaper/Conservation-Nature category for “Flying Kittens” (Ashland Daily Press), and second place in the Book category for “Natural Connections 3: A WebEndlessly Woven” (Green Darner Media). 

 

OWAA’s annual EIC Contest honors the best-of-the-best in a variety of communications formats – Blog, Book, Column, Graphic/Illustration, Magazine, Newspaper, Photography, Photography Essay, Radio/Podcast, TV/Video/Webcast, and Other. This year's EIC Contest was sponsored by Friesens Publishing and Pew Charitable Trusts.
